grammatically correct. But I would say “I asked him to speak more slowly”. If you use “require”, you put pressure on him. It sounds obligatory(=no choice). If you want to use “require”, I would make a sentence like “My boss required me to do this task.” You could say like “My teacher required me to do this homework.”

Requireは義務（＝選択の余地がない）の意味になるので、もし友達にお願いするなどの意味で使いたいならaskを使うとよい。

“Demand” is a word used for a particular act, thing, naturally very strong and obligatory.（かなり強い）

 

“Ask” is a word used when asking for help, advice, information, etc. politely.　（お願い）

 

“Request” is an expression used when making a polite and formal request.　(丁寧なお願い）

 

“Require” is an expression used to refer to the need in terms of laws, rules, standards, etc.（規則などに沿って義務付けられている印象）

 

“Insist” is a word used when a certain act or consent is categorically demanded, similar to “demand”.　（Demandに近い）

not “book store”, should be “bookstore”. These kinds of words are called compound nouns and even native speakers make a lot of mistakes. When you say “the bookstore”, which means you are talking about a particular store.

“during the summer”だと「1年のある特定の時期／季節」という観点で話しているような印象。“during summer”だと、「毎年、この地域は夏はよく雨が降るよ」というニュアンスで話している。
